Tweet, tweet, no not twitter...Storybird!

I've been thinking about creating a story using Storybird.  I've been enchanted by the artwork on the website.  So today I decided to create one.  Not my best writing but trying to get a feel for how I might use this with my kinders.  Starting to think that this might be best for the student who doesn't like to illustrate or for the student with the big imagination.  Not sure if 5 year olds will understand how to manipulate it. With that said, I think older students will enjoy it. What do you think?

  1. Hello Maribeth,

As for kinders, you could create a custom story that will have "that" special appeal to your students. (Maybe, use some of their names in the story or a class event). Then you can post the story on the "big screen" and read it aloud to your students as you would a printed storybook. The advantage would be that all the students can see the pictures while you are reading and can admire the art work. Maybe, the art work will give the students some ideas for their own drawings.

When you have a chance, you can embed your Storybird creation in this post. Most everyone likes to see a visual to capture the idea behind a post.

    1. Thanks Judy. You gave me an idea...use sight words to create a story that they could use to practice reading them.
I tried to embed the Storybird but I couldn't figure out how to retrieve it. I wasn't sure if it was because I signed up for the free account. What am I missing?

    1. Took me awhile to navigate it and I still don't get it completely.I wasn't able to embed it into my blog either-not sure how to do that. I also had a hard time manipulating the pictures. Need to work the kinks out!Not the easy to work!

  3. I think your book is very cute! I was going to use Storybird for my final prject. I was going to have my students look at the pictures and describe words for it. I would then type their words and create a book.

  5. OK so I personally really liked this!! I definitely think it could be used at your students level. You could even do the story as a whole class and collaborate all of their thoughts!!!

  6. I thought that your story was very cute! I know that I told you this on Thursday but I'm not a huge fan of the Storybird because I want to hear it lol. When I think of story telling, I think of someone or something reading me a story haha! Maybe when you are done completing this with your kindergartners, I will be inspired to do it with mine. I can't wait to see how your digital story comes out! :)
